The last two French FREMM frigates with reinforced Air Defence Capabilities ("Alsace" and "Lorraine") are currently being built simultaneously and will be delivered in 2021 and 2022.

6th French ASW FREMM frigate "Normandie" delivered to the French Navy
On 16th July 2019, the 6th French Multi-Mission Frigate ASW (Anti-Submarine Warfare) Class FREMM Follow on Ship “Normandie” was accepted by OCCAR and delivered to the French Navy in agreement with the Direction Générale de l’Armement.
The acceptance of the "Normandie" is the result of intensive work within a tight schedule of the teams of Naval Group, its industrial partners, the French Navy, DGA and OCCAR. This joint success was only possible because all participants have always worked closely and trustingly together.

The FREMM Programme remains the most ambitious and largest European Naval Initiative with a total of 18 frigates (8 ordered by France and 10 by Italy). The French FREMM frigates will form the backbone of the French Surface Fleet.
The ASW FREMM Frigates are equipped with the most advanced weapon systems, such as the Heracles Multifunction Radars, Aster 15 / Aster 30 Missiles, Exocet MM40 Missiles, MU 90 Torpedoes and MdCN Missiles.
