
VISIT OF OCCAR EA DIRECTOR TO THE LSS PD SATELLITE IN SAINT-NAZAIRE
On 2nd Septemer 2019, OCCAR EA Director Mr. Arturo Alfonso Meiriño visited Saint-Nazaire OCCAR LSS PD premises, located in the "Chantiers de l'Atlantique" shipyard facilities. He was accompanied by Eng. Gen. Laurent Sellier, Director of the Naval Management Unit of the French "Direction Générale de l'Armement".
In the wake of the LSS PD expansion, with the opening of the Paris site on 15th February 2019, the OCCAR Satellite of Saint-Nazaire was activated on 3rd June 2019. Nestled in the "Chantiers de l'Atlantique" shipyard of Saint-Nazaire, France, the LSS PD new site - manned by two permanent OCCAR staff members - will provide direct support on the FL-LSS contract, for both Design and Construction phases.
The Director emphasized how swiftly the OCCAR facility has been set-up, with thanks to the joint effort of OCCAR EA Central Office - for ICT and legal aspects, "Chantiers de l'Atlantique", and OCCAR Paris site - with regards to logistics and health and Safety matters.

Mr. Laurent Castaing, General Manager of "Chantiers de l'Atlantique" took the opportunity to provide to the Director and the whole LSS team a comprehensive and detailed picture of "Chantiers de l'Atlantique" industrial capabilities, capacities and activities. He presented a short overview of "Chantiers de l'Atlantique" activities, followed by a visit to the shipyard and cruise ship MSC "Grandiosa", currently under trials before her delivery by the end of October 2019.
The Director welcomed the shipyard's "know-how" and underlined the importance to continue OCCAR EA - "Chantiers de l'Atlantique" cooperation in the future for the benefit of the LSS programme.
