TIGER Maintenance Trainer Declared “ready for training”!
On the 08th of May 2012, the Tiger Maintenance Trainer (TMT) has reached “ready for training 1”. The TMT project is a proven example of OCCAR capability to support the Nations with the full range of Through Life services and products, in particular advanced training systems procurement.
The milestone reached provides the customer Nations with the possibility to start training students in both the 2D and 3D environment.
Developed and produced jointly by CASSIDIAN and SOGITEC, the TMT belongs to the family of “virtual maintenance trainers” and is designed to train technicians from the bilateral Tiger technical school (DFAT – Deutsch-Französische Ausbildungseinrichtung TIGER) located in Germany.

The benefits of such a system, able to simulate 900 different helicopter faults, are the reduction of the training workload on original equipment, the reduction of the life cycle cost by replacing original equipments with virtual ones and the avoidance of damage to real equipment. It also allows the training of a greater quantity of trainees at the same time compared to what is possible on a real aircraft. Inducing a complete new philosophy of training, the system radically changes the training paradigm for aircraft mechanics.
Nations have already tasked OCCAR to manage the in-service phase as well as the future evolutions of this product.
