ppa contract amendment 2 signed

On 10th October 2018, in the frame of the 29th FREMM Programme Committee, in Rome, the Contract Amendment nr. 2 for the PPA Programme has been signed by the Industry Temporary Consortium (Fincantieri and Leonardo) and OCCAR-EA on behalf of Italy. 

Relevant outcomes of design activities and a specific set of changes to technical requirements have been implemented in the Contract, according to several Engineering Change Proposals approved by the Italian Participating State.

The PPA Programme includes design, development, construction and initial logistic support of 10 ships (7 + 3 optional) in three different configurations: “light” for patrolling tasks, integrated for basic self-defense capability, “light plus” which adds the anti-air capabilities and the “full” version, equipped to cope with three-dimensional threats (air, surface and underwater).

Thanks to the management provided by OCCAR through a tailored risk management approach and continuous improvements in process quality, the Programme is currently on schedule. In particular, the production of the first three ships is already running and PPA1, named “Paolo Thaon di Revel”, will be delivered in 2021.
