OCCAR-EA Director’s hand-over ceremony
The official handover ceremony of the OCCAR-EA Director position from Vice Adm Matteo Bisceglia to Mr Joachim Sucker took place at the Gustav Stresemann Institute in Bonn on 20 January, in the presence of the OCCAR Board of Supervisors, national and industry representatives, and representatives of international organisations.
The Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, Vice Adm Stawitzki, thanked Vice Adm Bisceglia for his excellent leadership of OCCAR-EA and strategic view.
NSPA GM Ms Cummings and DG DEFIS Director of Defence Industry Mr Arbault spoke during the ceremony and highlighted the very good relationship their organisations enjoy with OCCAR. All welcomed Mr Sucker, wishing him a successful and great time as OCCAR-EA Director.
Vice Adm Bisceglia thanked all OCCAR stakeholders for the great cooperation during his time as OCCAR-EA Director and offered his sincere thanks to all BoS and related Committee Members, as well as to all OCCAR-EA staff members for the immense support that they have given to him and OCCAR. Based on these joint efforts, OCCAR is recognised today as a centre of excellence in the management of complex cooperative armament programmes in Europe.
Mr Sucker, who will start his tenure as OCCAR-EA Director on the 1st February, thanked the BoS representatives for their trust, and expressed his joy in joining an organisation that plays such an important role in the European defence arena. He looks forward to building on the work of his predecessor with OCCAR's European partners, and maintaining the good relationship with EDA, NSPA and the European Commission.
