OCCAR DIRECTOR ATTENDED THE EUROTORP VIP EVENT 2022

On 1^st July 2022, OCCAR-EA Director attended the EuroTorp event titled “a new boost” which was held in Biot Sophia Antipolis (France). The meeting focus was to share the views of the national customers and industry on the further development of the Light Weight Torpedo (LWT) and to celebrate the “new boost”, which is intended to reinvigorate the LWT programme. The event saw the participation of EuroTorp’s Members (Leonardo, NavalGroup and Thales), the NAVARM Director Vadm Guma and DGA UM NAV Director IGA Thivillier.

The Director of EuroTorp and his team also presented an overview of the business activities with a focus on the new Research & Development ambitions for LWT. These decisions aim to give a new boost to the LWT and to strengthen its level of operational excellence and attractiveness to worldwide markets and for it to continue to be recognised among its current Navy customers.

OCCAR-EA Director provided an overview of OCCAR and its significant role within European Defence, emphasising the need to cooperate between nations, between industry and between international procurement organisations. EuroTorp and the engagement of the LWT customers with OCCAR is an excellent example of this in practice.
