The FREMM Aquitaine has succesfully fired its first Aster 15 surface-to-air missile
Monday, 4th February 2013, the Aquitaine, the first frigate of the French Navy’s FREMM class (Multi-Mission Frigate), has successfully fired its first air defence missile Aster 15 in the Mediterranean from the DGA’s Missile test centre located on the Island of Levant.
Successful FSAF Firings
A specific firing campaign, consisting of two single firings from IT and FR HORIZON class ships and of one salvo firing from a UK Navy platform have just been successfully completed in a very short timeframe (one month - May/June 2010). This more than positive event will re-launch the ammunition production which was suspended following some technical issues experienced in 2009, in the frame of the PAAMS qualification trials.
