Successful First Progress Meeting of Light Weight Torpedo (LWT) Programme Stakeholders

Wilhelmhaven, 7 July 2023 – An important first meeting of Light Weight Torpedo Programme (LWT) stakeholders took place from 4-7 July 2023 at the Bundesamt für Ausrüstung, Informationstechnik und Nutzung der Bundeswehr (BAAIN) BW/German Navy premises. This was the first progress meeting of Light Weight Torpedo (LWT) Programme participants since its integration on March 1, 2023 into OCCAR , with the participation of the whole MU90 community, comprising industry, the EUROTORP consortium and its members: LEONARDO, Naval Group and THALES, OCCAR Participating States Australia, France, Germany, and Italy, as well as OCCAR-EA PD members.

The week-long fruitful meeting underlined and emphasized the need to continuously further develop and strengthen existing cooperation between the Programme Participating States, as well as to assess on-going industry activities within the framework of the ISS-01 contract, managed by OCCAR-EA.

Objectives were set for the coming months. Further development of cooperation and communication within the MU90 community, setting up of optimised plans and procedures, commitments on common roadmaps for the In-Service Support of the MU90, were allpart of the decisions taken that will ensure the success of the Programme.
