Kiel/Germany - 18 September 2024 – OCCAR-EA Director, Mr. Joachim Sucker, attended the Submarine Conference (SubCon) 2024, a key industry event organized by ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (tkMS) in Kiel. The conference, held from 17-19 September 2024, brought together experts and leaders from the global submarine industry.
Mr. Sucker was accompanied by the Programme Manager of the U212 Near Future Submarine (NFS) Programme Division (Mr. Maurizio Cannarozzo). During the event, he met with key figures, including Mr. Christian Rogge, Head of Operating Unit Submarine at tkMS, to discuss submarine technology and the progress of the U212 NFS Programme.
As part of his visit, Mr. Sucker toured the tkMS production site, where he observed the construction of key submarine components, including the bow caps and torpedo tubes of NFS1. He also visited ELAC Sonar, the company responsible for developing the new sonar system for the NFS submarines: Kaleidoscope 2.0.
