OCCAR-EA Director attends FEINDEF 2025

Madrid/Spain, 12-13 May 2025– The OCCAR-EA Director, Joachim Sucker concluded his successful two-day visit to Spain´s International Defence & Security Exhibition, FEINDEF 2025, organized by the FEINDEF Foundation, which is  backed by the ES Ministry of Defence.  

This was Mr. Sucker´s second visit to FEINDEF, which was a particularly important visit to one of the six OCCAR Member States, which currently holds the OCCAR Board of Supervisors (BoS) Chairmanship during 2025. As such, the OCCAR-EA Director was invited and warmly welcomed to FEINDEF by the Chair of the OCCAR Board of Supervisors (BoS) Vice Admiral José Antonio Toro Fernández and as well as the Deputy National Armaments Director (NAD) Major General (SPAF) José Antonio Gutiérez Sevilla.

During his two-day visit the OCCAR Director held numerous consultations with industry including meeting with the President and the General Director of SMS, the Coordinator of the HYDEF Consortium. The HYpersonic DEFence Interceptor Programme (HYDEF) Programme is one of 24 programmes managed by OCCAR at present. Additional meetings with industry included Navantia, Indra, Sener and Thales as well as meeting with representatives from the European Commission´s (EC) Directorate-General for Defence Industry and Space (DG DEFIS), to discuss EU co-funded OCCAR Programmes such as, but not exclusively, for example, the HYDEF Programme and the Multi Modular Patrol Corvette (MMPC). Other OCCAR Programmes that are managed by OCCAR and are co-funded by the EU are the Hypersonic Defence Interceptor System (HYDIS), the MALE RPAS (Eurodrone), the Responsive Electronic Attack for Cooperative Tasks (REACT) and the EU Naval Collaborative Surveillance Operational Standard (E-NACSOS) Programmes.
