OCCAR HORIZON PD presents Active Cyber Protection System

Southampton/UK 29 Sept-02 Oct 2025 - During the NAVAL Damage Control event, hosted by Defence Leaders, the OCCAR (Organisation for Joint Armament Co-operation) the Horizon Programme Division which includes the FREMM Programme presented a cutting-edge capability implemented on board the last two Italian FREMM Frigates: the Active Cyber Protection System, which expand the damage control capability to the cyber domain.

While the event traditionally focuses on fire and flooding response, Horizon PD expanded the scope of the safety and self-defence concept to include the growing threat of digital intrusions and cyber-attacks on naval platform.

This innovative approach treats cyber incidents with the same structured approach and urgency as physical damage, marking a significant evolution in naval resilience strategies.

Once again, OCCAR demonstrated its strength in delivering disruptive solutions through international cooperation ensuring that customers emerging operational needs are fully met, by exploiting the best possible expertise available, and on schedule.

The contribution presented by OCCAR was particularly appreciated by participants, who recognized the importance of integrating cyber defence into conventional damage control strategies. This event confirms OCCAR’s role as a catalyst for forward-looking defence innovation.
