Turnchapel, Plymouth/ UK, 27 March 2026 - OCCAR is pleased to announce the successful delivery of the second MMCM (Maritime Mine Counter Measures) Primary System, ADVENTURE, to the United Kingdom and the Royal Navy. This milestone follows the initial system deliveries in 2024 to France and 2025 to the UK, marking another significant step forward in the OCCAR managed MMCM Programme.
This latest delivery reinforces the strong cooperation between OCCAR, Thales, and the Programme Participating Nations France and the United Kingdom. The MMCM capability introduces a world‑class, autonomous mine countermeasures solution, built around advanced unmanned systems and an expanded mission suite designed to enhance safety and operational effectiveness at sea.
Commodore Michael Wood, Senior Responsible Owner for the UK programme, accepted the vessel on behalf of the Royal Navy, stating that ‘this was an important step forward – and showed the power of the enterprise – with OCCAR, Royal Navy, the National Armaments Director Group, Thales and Saab working collaboratively and transparently to one purpose, and responding to the urgent need to prepare this world-class capability for any operational employment.’
The Royal Navy is now equipped to further develop and operationalise this innovative concept of operations. The MMCM System enables the use of autonomous drones controlled remotely via a Portable Operation Centre, allowing highly precise, uncrewed sonar survey missions that support detailed seabed mapping, even in complex maritime environments.
With the addition of a dedicated Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV), the system also provides the capability to conduct mine identification and mine neutralisation training at sea—significantly improving mission readiness while keeping personnel out of harm’s way.
The MMCM Programme continues to transform mine warfare through enhanced autonomy, strengthened multinational collaboration, and the proven efficiency of OCCAR’s programme management model.
