OCCAR and Airbus sign A400M Letter of Intent at Paris Air Show

Paris Air Show/Le Bourget -16 June, 2025 – OCCAR A400M Programme Manager Philippe Bourgault and Gerd Weber, Head of A400M Programme/CEO Airbus Defence and Space have signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) formalising their intention to pursue A400M production, while improving the A400M cost of operations and further developing its capabilities. OCCAR-EA Director, Joachim Sucker and Jean Brice Dumont Head of Air Power attended the signing ceremony.

Some 12 years after the A400M entry into service, the experience gathered while operating more than 130 AC operated around the world, will enable Airbus to alleviate the scheduled maintenance effort, and improve aircraft maintenance efficiency.

This strategic effort, combined with the roll out of major capabilities enhancements foreseen in the coming years, make the A400M a unique highly versatile European airlifter, capable of the broadest scope of tactical and strategic air transport missions.

We are much encouraged by this latest partnership approach that, between us, will keep the A400M at the heart of military capability for the future.
