LSS Jacques Stosskopf - Successful Sea Trials Mark Progress Towards Final Delivery for French Navy Scheduled for End of 2025

Off the Coast of Toulon, 12 September 2025 -The fifth sea trial of the Logistic Support Ship (LSS) “Jacques Stosskopf” has been achieved. Since April 2025, this vessel has already completed four sea trials including from St Nazaire to Brest and from Brest to Toulon, its home port.

Sea trials aim at confirming the reliability and efficiency of the ship’s main systems, including propulsion, power generation, navigation, combat systems and helicopter platform capabilities. Ensuring the vessel’s ability to meet demanding operational requirements is a key milestone in the path towards its full readiness for service. The results achieved during these days confirm the progress of the programme and further strengthen confidence in the ship’s design and sea capabilities.

The Franco-Italian Logistic Support Ship (LSS) Programme, managed by OCCAR on behalf of the French Armament General Directorate (DGA), and its Italian counterpart, NAVARM, aims to develop and produce six ships (two for Italy and four for France) along with In-Service Support (ISS), with an option for a third ship for the Italian Navy.
