Keel Laying Ceremony of LSS "Atlante" completed

The keel laying ceremony of the second Italian Logistic Support Ship (LSS) took place on 28 June 2023 at the Fincantieri shipyard in Castellammare di Stabia (Naples). With the participation of the Italian Participating State (PS) representatives, the event marked an important milestone for OCCAR’s LSS Programme Division in the framework of the cooperation between Italy and France.

The LSS “Atlante”, with her state of-the art design and technical features, meets today’s demands for a modern and flexible Navy, broadening the dual use concept. The ship will be able to support Joint Task Forces (providing refuelling at sea, spare parts, food, drinking water, specialized medical products, equipment and other materials) as well as perform civil protection roles and disaster relief operations.

The launch of the LSS "Atlante" is scheduled in 2024 and the delivery to the Italian Navy by the end of 2025.
