First Aster missile deliveries to Italy after production acceleration and increase contracted by OCCAR

CIMA, Aulla, 24 July 2025 - Within the framework of Amendment 15 of the FSAF-PAAMS Sustainment and Enhancement (S&E) contract signed in February 2025 by OCCAR-EA, EUROSAM and its member MBDA delivered the first new Aster missiles to the Joint Advanced Ammunition Centre (CIMA) in Italy. 

This first delivery is the result of the acceleration and increase of production requested to fulfil the need of the three Participating States of the FSAF-PAAMS Programme France, Italy and the UK.

The first munitions’ delivery, initially scheduled for 2026 following orders placed at the end of 2022, were brought forward thanks to the adjustment and enhancement of the production capacities put in place with industry in their different sites in Europe to meet Nations’ priorities. 

This acceleration, achieved in close coordination with industry partners, is essential to meeting the Nations’ evolving priorities and ensuring timely delivery of Aster munitions, critical to their Air Defence assets in the Naval and Ground domains.
