Cosmo Sky-Med Second Generation (CSG) second satellite successfully launched
On 01/02/2022 at 00.11 (CET) the second satellite of the Italian Cosmo Sky-Med Second Generation (CSG) constellation has been successfully launched. This launch will increase the operational capabilities of the Multinational Space-based Imaging System (MUSIS) system as, together with the French Composante Spatiale Optique (CSO) system, and through MUSIS Common Interoperability Layer (CIL), it will allow France and Italy to cooperate in the Earth-Observation domain through space-based platforms.
The satellite has been injected in its nominal orbit (Sun-synchronous polar orbit at 619.6 km above the Earth) about 60 minutes after the launch. At 01:51 the first radio signals coming from the satellite have been well received by the Control Ground Segment verifying the good health of the satellite.
