A400M Substantive Contract Amendment Signed

On 7 April 2011 the Contract Amendment for the A400M Programme was signed, at the Final Assembly Line in Seville, between Airbus Military and OCCAR-EA on behalf of Customer Nations (Belgium –also acting on behalf of Luxemburg–, France, Germany, Spain, Turkey and the United Kingdom) implementing the agreement made between EADS and the Nations’ Secretaries of State during a meeting in Berlin on 5th March 2010.

A number of significant changes to the Contract have been agreed to re-schedule A400M aircraft deliveries, commencing with the first aircraft to be delivered in March 2013, to the French Air Force. Aircraft deliveries to the Customer Nations will then continue until July 2024.

The A400M will be operating in the Air Forces of Belgium, France, Germany, Luxemburg, Spain, Turkey and the United Kingdom. A total of 170 aircraft, plus 10 options, are to be delivered in accordance with the contract. Malaysia has also, separately, ordered 4 aircraft as an export customer.

Four prototypes are already in flight, and a fifth one should join the flight test programme this Autumn.
