Who are we?
OCCAR is an international organisation whose core-business is the through life management of cooperative defence equipment programmes. The organisation was established by means of a Convention (93kB) , which is equivalent to an international treaty.
OCCAR currently manages eight important armament programmes with a total operational budget in 2014 of about 3.6 Billion €: A400M, BOXER, COBRA, ESSOR, FSAF-PAAMS, FREMM, MUSIS, TIGER.
OCCAR is a centre of excellence in its business domain. This vision is underpinned by the implementation of a comprehensive business management framework, comprising a Quality Management System, which attained the ISO 9001:2000 certification in July 2005.
Recertification on an annual basis was attained up to 2008. In 2009, the OCCAR Quality Management System was certified against the new ISO 9001:2008 standard and yearly recertified since then.
OCCAR has currently Member States: Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom.
The OCCAR community consists however of 12 states in total, as Finland, Luxembourg (represented by Belgium in the A400M Programme), The Netherlands, Poland, Sweden and Turkey are also participating in one or more OCCAR Programmes (as "Participating States") without being OCCAR Member States.
